Whether just beginning to learn to meditate or having mastered the art, this color meditation is an effective way to incorporate the benefits of the healing energies of the colors of the rainbow - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. This calming meditation is relaxing and spiritual. Let us begin.
The Meditation
Now, become comfortable, relax and close your eyes.
Take note of how your body feels. Relax your shoulders...relax your jaw...continue to feel your muscles loosen as your arms, back and legs relax.
Pay attention to your breathing. Take a deep breath and release it slowly. Take another deep breath, release. Again, deep breath...release.
Now begin to focus on the color red. Let red fill your mind. Picture bright ripe red tomatoes...a male cardinal...a red rose.
Breathe in the color red. Let it fill your body. Feel the strength the red energies are bringing to your body. Exhale. Breathe in red again, filling you with courage. Let your breath out.
Take another deep breath. Let it out. Now, breathe in the color orange. Think of a large, juicy orange...flames dancing in a fire...the sunset.
Fill your mind with orange. As you continue to breathe in the orange energies, feel your confidence build with the power of orange.
Take a deep breath. Exhale slowly. Focus on yellow. Fill your mind with the color yellow. Envision the summer sun...fall leavesblowing in the breeze...fresh picked lemons.
With each breath, feel the refreshing power of the yellow energies bringing clarity to your mind. Breath in yellow, slowly...let it out.
Breathe in the color green. Let green fill your mind and body. With each breath, picture the color green...soft, new grass...thick, luscious forests...a summer garden. Let your breath out.
Breathe deeply...release. Let the balancing green energies fill your heart with peace and harmony. Breathe in, breathe out...slowly.
Now, imagine the color blue. Fill your body with blue with every breath. Focus on blue...the summer sky...a peaceful ocean...a robin's egg.
Bring in the tranquil blue energies. Breathe in...breathe out. Feel the calming effects of the color blue.
Breathe in blue...exhale.
Take another deep breath. Exhale. Envision the dark mysterious color indigo. Picture the midnight sky...a blueberry patch...wild flowers blowing in the breeze.
Breathe in...and out. Let indigo fill your body. Feel the indigo energies increasing your empathy and understanding. Breathe in indigo...breath out.
Now, fill your mind with color violet. Breathe in violet...slowly exhale. Think of the early morning sunrise...tiny violets growing in the grass...solid, soft violet hues.
With each breath, feel the purifying violet energies filling your body. Feel your inspiration growing. Breathe in violet...slowly let your breath out.
Continue to take deep breathes. Breathe in...breathe out...in...out...in...out.
Enjoy the peaceful feelings the colors have brought to your mind. Relax and take note of how balanced your body feels.
Now, focus on becoming more aware of your surroundings. Continue to take deep breathes and release. Open your eyes and focus on where you are. Stretch your body. Become fully alert.
